This was a good gift. The quality of all the parts and how well they stayed together left MUCH to be desired. I would recommend this gift because your child isn't going to care about the quality compared to the castle itself. I would have LOVED to have had in when I was a kid instead of the many "book castles" I tried building.
I bought this for my five year old and am really sorry I bought it. After putting it all together the towel rail kept collapsing and ended up giving up. The bed upstairs doesn't even fit the floor it is about 5 cm too big. The chairs the dolls are supposed to sit on aren't even big enough for the dolls and always fall off. After watching my daughter play with this and get so frustrated with the stairs and the chairs I am ready to throw this expensive piece of junk in the bin! It's so disappointing as it is so pretty, all it needs is to be a bit sturdier and it would be great. The magic carpet is pretty flimsy too and being on the edge makes it really hard to put in a place that fits properly. The doll keeps falling off the holder she fits into on the stairs, the cupboards and stove that just fit into the wall keep falling out. So sad that this level of quality was even allowed to go through their quality control. Where are all the mums and kids who were supposed to test this house??? Wouldn't last five minutes in a play centre... Come on mattel lift your game. So disappointed, more so at how frustrated my daughter was trying to play with it.
I bought it for my 3 year old's birthday. She loves it but there are little pieces that I put away till she gets older and some pieces like the magic carpet I'm leaving off cause I'm afraid it's going to get broken. Overall it makes her smile and has a great time playing with it.
I am very disappointed in the quality of this Castle, all the pieces and the dolls. My two younger daughters loved this toy in the beginning but quickly lost interest when everything started to break. My girls are not rough on toys. We have a Dora Castle that is like 6 years old and we have a Playschool Doll House that is 16 years old and both are in perfect condition after being played with by our 5 daughters. We have several Barbies and none of their legs break off. Mattel, why did you decide against making the Princesses the same way as Barbie. Two of our Princesses have lost their legs due to the low quality. Several parts of the Castle have broken off and all the furniture has fallen apart. Mattel, perhaps you should have had this toy manufactured in the USA. I read poor reviews like 3 days before Christmas but decided not to return this product at that time. I really wish I would have believed the reviews. I highly recommend not purchasing this product. Mattel, you had a great idea but the quality is sadly not there.
